I tried it with baking soda and coal slag. Baking soda can be useful for a more delicate, less aggressive abrasion. On my test with coal slag, I was happy with the result. I used a rusty bolt for my test as shown in the pictures. I recommend using a high quality respirator and a face shield or hooded respirator as the particles tend to bounce off frequently to the face. What I liked about this sandblaster is that it can take different types of medium.

I just recently started making horseshoe art. New shoes are covered with a protective coating (old shoes are covered in rust), so I went looking for a reasonably priced sandblaster to do the job: removing the coating. So, this showed up the other day (really fast shipping) and I wanted to give it a try but I had no media, so I ran down to the local beach and scored some sand from there. I did have to sift the sand, with some kitchen utensils, and give it some time to dry out, but once I did the blaster worked flawlessly. It’s great for small projects, or larger ones if you have the patience. The hopper will go through the sand pretty quick but siphon option should correct that. Don't hesitate if you are looking for a reasonably priced sand blaster that gits 'er done!

If you need blaster power for smaller jobs this is the one for you. It works great and rips off old paint and rust. Well worth the price. Easy to set up and adjust based on your medium.

Waited long enough for a sand blaster. Opened the box and was spraying in 10 minutes. Super easy and perfect for the furniture I was stripping. Just need a bigger compressor with more PSIThanks youHappy customer

This is a great product. I refinish furniture and the intitial prep work can be tedious and time consuming. With this sand blaster old paint and stain come off with ease - even I. The most detailed areas. I love it! And, it’s a “Blast” to use!

The product worked exactly as advertised. I would recommend it and I would buy from this manufacturer again. Another reason I'm writing a review is to commend their customer service and communication. It was top notch and stood out from their competitors. Nice little blaster. If you’re looking to do a big job, this one might not be the right model. But for doing small jobs, it was just the ticket. The hopper is small, so the the bigger the job, the more you need to fill it. I’m happy with it, but then my jobs matched the tool.

The portable sandblaster works surprisingly well! I used to need a big media tank to do the same job. Now it just takes my compressor, the blaster and safety gear and I’m restoring old tools, cleaning calcium off from pool tile, restoring old cast iron cookwear I buy from yard sales, cleaning auto parts, etc! Remember to get a respirator or use a blasting cabinet!
