Silicon carbide is the hardest commonly available blasting media (9.5 on the Mohs scale, just below diamond). Choose it when you need aggressive material removal: heavy rust, thick paint, heat scale, and hard coatings. It cuts 2-3x faster than aluminum oxide but creates a rougher surface profile. For delicate work or smooth finishes, choose glass bead or baking soda instead.

Got this to use in my rock tumbler and so far it works great, I'm using it as a stage 1.5 almost as it's between the typical step 1 and 2 grit sizes. I had some softer rocks I was worried about using the 60/90 grit on and over tumbling, so I went 'low and slow'. It took 2 weeks in stage one with this 100 grit, but they're perfectly ready for stage 2. I do wish this came in better packaging, like an actual container instead of a bag that barely closes because the grit gets into the closure, but other than that I think this is great for rock tumbling.

It would be better to find something in a plastic container if you aren't going to use the entire amount at once.

I just started doing sand blasting so I’m a bit of a beginner and I’m learning what sand is best for sanding what items the grit of this sand is incredibly strong and I was able to knock off the paint from the metal that I was sandblasting with ease this small bag will last you for some time, despite not being too big of a bag of sand I have an old school Eastwood sandblasting cabinet, and this worked very well The price is fair and you definitely get your moneys worth here. I will definitely be recommend you this to anyone in need of good sand for their sandblasting cabinets.
I used this in my portable blasting machine, and it works just like other blasting media that I have used in the past. It goes through the blasting gun without clogging it up and abrasively hits against the steel removing the paint and rust that I was trying to get off. Works well for my needs and very comparable to other brands of blasting media that I have used.
